We loved that we saw all the big glaciers. We got plenty of time at each glacier. The views from the boat was amazing. A bit much people and it was difficult to here the information from the speaker.

Whewww, this was one for the books. Did the Glaciares Gourmet trip with my girlfriend and I STILL can’t stop talking about it. The boat is super comfy (not one of those old creaky ones), and we actually sat up top for most of it just gawking at the blue ice. The staff were mega friendly, like, remembering names and everything. Got to walk around at Bahia Las Vacas, which was a nice leg stretch, plus our guide told us some fun facts about the local birds (did you know some of them migrate all the way from Canada?! wild). Food was better than I expected, and the whisky with glacier ice—yeah, it really hits different. Only thing, it got a bit crowded near Perito Moreno, but worth it for the view. Def bring a windbreaker, the chill is no joke.

I went solo on the Glaciares Gourmet thing and honestly, it blew my mind. The boat is suuuper comfy (seriously, like a floating lounge lol). I spent half the ride just staring out the window and snapping a million pics. The crew was really chill and explained a bunch of stuff about the glaciers, which helped cuz I didn’t know much tbh. Lunch was fancy—tiny portions but tasted EPIC. My fave was the stop at that Puesto Las Vacas place, felt like walking in a snow globe. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

Went with my partner and honestly, the whole day felt like we were in a NatGeo documentary. The boat is super comfy (even the seats are squishy) and the windows are gigantic, so you never miss a glacier popping out of nowhere. Staff kept bringing us snacks (try the local cheese if they offer it!). Perito Moreno was the highlight for me—could stare at that blue ice all day. We did feel a bit rushed at the last stop, but, hey, still worth every peso. Bring layers! It got chilly fast.

Never seen ice that blue before! I went solo and even tho I was a bit nervous at first, everyone on the boat was suuuper friendly. The guides knew so much about the glaciers—kept tossing out cool facts I def wouldn’t have known. Lunch was fancy, but honestly I just kept staring out the window. Pro tip: bring a windbreaker, it gets WILD on deck. The stops were well-timed, and seeing Perito Moreno up close almost made me cry (not even joking). Worth the early wake up!

First time on a glacier cruise and honestly, I’m still buzzing. Went solo, made a few friends on deck (shoutout to Matteo and Lina if you read this). The colors of the ice are INSANE, like, neon blue. Staff super chill, let me hang around the bow even when I was taking a million pics. Lunch was fancy—maybe too fancy for me, but I tried everything. The guide’s English was clear and she had good glacier jokes (didn’t know those existed). Take sunscreen even if it’s cloudy, I learned the hard way!

Departure from El Calafate

Your day begins in the heart of El Calafate. If transfers are included, relax as the bus winds through the golden Patagonian steppe to the port. Otherwise, make your own scenic drive to Puerto Bajo de las Sombras or Puerto Moreno, where your cruise awaits beneath a backdrop of endless blue and distant ice.

Expert guides onboard

Throughout the Perito Moreno boat tour, seasoned bilingual guides bring the journey to life. Hear stories of ancient explorers, shifting ice fronts, and the ever-changing moods of the glacier. Their passion turns every sighting, from drifting icebergs to soaring condors, into a moment to remember.

Short cruise to Perito Moreno Glacier

Step aboard and set sail across Lago Argentino’s glassy waters. As the glacier draws near, its vast white walls rise like a frozen cathedral. You’ll hear deep rumbles, watch ice calve into the lake, and feel the crisp air dance on your face, a breathtaking hour of nature’s raw spectacle.

Full-day cruise to three glaciers

Embark on a full-day odyssey through Los Glaciares National Park. Drift past floating icebergs and glide through narrow channels toward the Upsala and Spegazzini Glaciers. Choose standard seating or a premium cabin with panoramic views. Either way, Patagonia unfolds in cinematic grandeur.

Guided nature walk at Bahía Las Vacas

On the full-day cruise, step ashore for a guided walk at Bahía Las Vacas. Wander among native lenga trees, wildflowers, and glacial streams as your guide shares stories of Patagonia’s fragile ecosystem. It’s a peaceful pause amid the immensity of ice and water.

Lunch onboard (only on full-day cruise)

As you sail between glaciers, enjoy a Patagonian-style box lunch or upgrade to a gourmet four-course meal served with Argentine blends in the premium lounge. Between bites, gaze out at blue ice cliffs glowing under the southern sun, it’s dining with the best view in the world.

Upgraded access to boardwalks

Add the boardwalk experience to your cruise for the ultimate perspective. Walk the elevated pathways that wind along the glacier’s edge, where every turn reveals new shades of blue. Watch the ice shift, listen to the wind, and take in the vast stillness of this natural masterpiece.

Return journey

Your day ends with a smooth return, either cruising back across the lake or by comfortable coach to your El Calafate hotel, depending on your ticket. As the sun dips behind the Andes, Patagonia’s silence lingers, the perfect farewell to a landscape that defies imagination.

About the Lago Argentino Lake

Tourists walking on a pathway with Perito Moreno Glacier and Lago Argentino in Patagonia, Argentina.

Argentina’s largest freshwater lake, Lago Argentino, is the shimmering stage for every Perito Moreno Glacier boat tour. Fed by meltwater from the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, its turquoise hue comes from finely ground glacial rock known as “rock flour.”

Sailing these calm, icy waters means tracing the same routes once used by early explorers and gauchos. Every ripple reflects Patagonia’s wild beauty and the ancient glaciers that still carve its shores today.

Tips & guidelines

  • Best photo spots: Head to the open deck or railings near the bow for glacier selfies. The light hits best as you approach the southern face.
  • Dress warmly: It’s cooler on the water, even in summer. Bring a windproof jacket, as the Patagonian breeze bites harder near the ice.
  • Timing matters: Morning or late afternoon cruises offer softer light and fewer crowds. Midday sun can flatten the glacier’s blue tones.
  • Pack light: Storage is limited on board. Bring a small backpack for essentials, like a camera, gloves, snacks, and water.
  • Battery check: Cold air drains batteries fast. Keep phones and cameras warm in your pocket between shots.
  • Mind the rails: Ice mist makes decks slippery. Use railings when moving around for the perfect shot without a wobble.
